cabin fan noise and led bulbs

has anyone experienced bearing noise on the cabin fan motor on low settings?

i am still awaiting a quote from ford but how hard is the motor to get to? I believe it's in the centre of the dash but at the very bottom I think I can see it just above the cabin filter but it's not assessable from the footwells

any help would be appreciated,

second i have fitted Led bulbs but they are interfering with Fm when the engine is running anyone have a link to bulbs they have used without issue

Hi and welcome to the forum Danielthonton91

Can't help you with the LED bulb question, maybe someone else can. Not seen any mention about them on previous threads. If you were sticking with the normal bulbs, then i would recommend upgrading them to '150% more light for same wattage bulbs' as originals are rubbish. There are many makes of more powerful light bulbs out there, usually 120% up to 150% more light output. I usually get round to replacing mine with upgraded 150% bulbs. Cost is around £20 to £28 for the pair depending on make.

As for bearing noise from your ventilation fan, how old is your car? I assume you are out of warranty.
I know that some old fans in certain car/makes have rusty bearings with rain water getting to them through the vent system. The answer to rusted or worn bearing is just fit another fan. You can get secondhand ones on Ebay, but sometimes that's a waste of money as they are already worn. Best to buy a new one.

Another more modern problem on fan noise as noticed on car forum websites, is leaf rustling (crackling sound) and it is caused by dead leaves getting trapped behind the pollen filter, so that's just a case of removing pollen filter, clean out the leaves and may as well put a new pollen filter in while you are at it. Good luck.

Many thanks

I have replaced bulbs as suggested and all is working good and they white enough.

As for the fan ford want £350 plus car for part with fitting they quoting £760 plus vat.

Apparently the dash strip down is very time consuming, I was going to bite the bullet and buy the part but I can’t find instructions on dash strip down to get to the motor
