How do you get an update to the maps on the sat nav? Is it free?? Can I do it myself somehow or at my next service?

Hi Jimbo, you can enter your vin number and check for updates for sync and map update here....
https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/

Note that there are past threads on updating with a SD card (do a search in search box put in 'sat nav') and you will find its been a lot of nightmares and headaches for owners trying it. Better to get the dealer to do it at your service.

PS..My Ecosport is a 2019 zetec base model and does not have sat nav to worry about, no map updates needed for me :D
We use wifes smart phone (mounted in car) with a sat nav app with voice shouting, left, right, turn round, LOL.

Built in Sat Navs are a waste of time to me. No updates and no speed cameras so I always put in a Tom Tom. Hard wire it so it turns on and off with the ignition.

There is a new 'no touch smart phone in car by driver' law coming out soon in the UK, so will have to watch using smart phone with sat nav app on the move.

My wife as a passenger just keeps her smart phone by her side, set on sat nav while we are in my car, and as a passenger she should be allowed to touch it, as long as I do not (as driver). Though hands free systems are fine to use.

Its definitely going to be an iffy law trying to explain to a police officer the reason you are using a smart phone in a car at all, but its seems its going to be down to a policeman spotting you, the driver, touching a phone on the move, and your nicked, and a nasty fine. :crying:
