Apple has registered a handful of automotive top-level domain names including apple.auto, apple.car, and apple.cars.
The domains could be related with efforts to promote Apple CarPlay but speculation suggests the company has registered the names for its long-rumoured electric vehicle.
Apple has been tight-lipped about its plans but previous reports have suggested the company is working on an electric vehicle codenamed Titan. Several hundred people are reportedly involved in the project and Apple has been hiring employees with automotive backgrounds. As Tesla CEO Elon Musk joked last year, Apple is the “Tesla graveyard" of ex-employees and "If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple."
