Hundreds of 1.0 ecoboost engine and 1.6 ecoboost engine owners have had problems with excessive loss of coolant, with cooling fan running all the time as a first warning of overheating, cylinder head cracking is the problem and that loses the coolant to the exhaust system, so lack of coolant can end up destroying the engine. On the 1.6 engine (Ecosport does not have this engine) there has even been been engine fires.

After many owners have had to pay hefty repair bills for this fault, Ford have now accepted that excessive loss of coolant is a fault, and will now pay the full bill. So take heed of this.
