Adding a boot rack to the Ecosport, in place of the spare wheel, gives my dog even more room.
Already having a roof rack the extra boot rack should allow an extra bag (30L).
Doing step by step, for interest, and incase anyone else wants to do something similar.

Use a T25 star driver to remove retaining screws in back plate.

Leaving the bit of scaffold know as the wheel carrier. 6 retaining bolts 2 require nuts to be removed from the rear (inside boot). I removed bottom 2 leaving top 2 loose so carrier does not fall off when internal nuts are removed.

After removing trim panel the retaining nuts are visable and easy to access.

Now to start with the rack.
Using 40mm x 40mm aluminium tube with 4mm walls for top and bottom bracket with angle to join top to bottom

Cut top bracket to size and tapped center hole to check fit.

Happy with placement and fit, so completed front holes for solid fit.
Now to make bottom bracket then to measure top to bottom and cut angle. Rain stopped play.

Angle cut and fit, just paint and luggage plate to do.

All done. Not the sexiest mod I know, its really strong, light weight and will be super useful.

Well done, and are you going to carry your spare, tied down in the boot (assuming there still room for dog)? or will you do without the spare?

Also what are you going to put on the boot rack, that cannot go on roof rack?

PS...I am quite happy to keep my spare where it is, plus I use my roof rack for my wife and I's two bikes....

No need to carry spare, use holts tyre weld, can get two big bags on roof and one on boot. Then put dog in boot with one more bag, four adults and my son in car. Loads of room. I'm not against wheel on boot, like the look, but this works great for me.

Good work, just trying to figure out what you're using it for - is it to strap a bag or bike or something to the back?
