Anyone on here hardwired a dashcam in their Ecosport?
Trying to fit a Nextbase one via hardwire and no matter where i put the wire in the fuse holder I'm getting problems.
I can get the camera to work but 'piggybacking' the fuse that you take out to put the hardwire in it's place I'm just getting problems with stuff not working or errors coming up on dashboard.
Am I doing something wrong?
Anyone hardwired a dashcam and have no problems and can point me to the fuse terminal I should be using?
Any help appreciated cheers.

If its just a constant 12V supply you need, then take it from the car battery through a suitably fused, in-line fuse. You will have to find a way through the front bulkhead for wiring getting into the cabin, using a new or existing rubber grommit and make sure its waterproofed with silicon sealer afterwords.

In modern cars I tend to use direct from the battery, to avoid such computer problems, as many circuits are either tied up to it or monitored by it.

If you need an 'ignition on' source as well , then you can still take a constant 12V source via the car battery, and suitable in-line fuse, but put this through a power relay contact, and the relay coil would be slaved off of an 'ignition on' circuit. So relay operates when car is running.

The 12V cabin socket is like that on an Ecosport, as it only works with ignition on, and has nothing to do with the cars computer. Years ago they took a lot of power as they were cigarette lighters at 20A, its only 10A for low power charging of phones, etc, so you can connect wire to the power relay coil.

Hi, Just wanted to let people know that I have got the dashcam on my ES to turn on and off with the car using either of the following £6 products from Amazon.

Or a cable that allows you to use both the camera and you usb music which i'm using.

Both only send power to the camera so you don't get the connect to Pc message.

I hope these help someone. Karl

That's brill! Do you use both or one or the other?

I currently run mine to the rear passenger charger (as I use the front one for my phone). I then just plug and unplug the dash cam each time.
