Hi Shazzytartan, You sound north of the border, yet another Canny Scot, like me
What colour and model did you go for, did you get the spare wheel?
You will really like the Ford Ecosport, its a great wee SUV, although still feels rather big to me LOL!
The rather big blind spot on the A pillar next to the windscreen (due to width of the rather useless small triangular glass section) takes a bit of getting used to. But the car is easy to drive, and plenty space inside the cabin, and a reasonable sized boot.
As for me with Fords, I have went full circle, as had Ford Escort, Cortina and Capri in the late seventies and early eighties, but had all sorts of technical faults which I had to sort out (it was easy in those days for cheap parts and DIY), plus they rusted like mad, so I moved into japanese cars with Toyota and Nissan, and other European makes, then having looked at the SUV market, decided the Ecosport was best value and nice looking.
Fords are far superior today than they were back then, so very happy with mine which I have owned for over a year now from new.
