Hi all. Just collected our new EcoSport ST Line 140bph in Luxe Yellow/Shadow Black this weekend and absolutely love it. It’s over 20 years since our last Ford (Escort III) and we’re impressed by how much everything has improved and how intuitive the whole system seems to be.
Just have one question, for now… is there a way to stop the radio turning off every 10 minuets when the engine/ignition is off?
I’ve checked through all the various settings and can’t find anything for this.
We have keyless start, so guessing I’m setting it in the equivalent of position 1. I was sitting inside it at lunchtime and having a play, but the radio cut out ever 10 minuets. Pushed to start and then stop gave me around another 10 each time.
I realise this is probably to conserve battery, but 30 mins radio shouldn’t really kill it.
Any thoughts?

Hi Louise, and welcome to the forum.

I was the same as you with regard giving Ford a miss for decades. My last Ford was an Escort XR3i back in the 80's, till I bought the Ecosport. Ford have made up for the early days of unreliability and rust :D

As for 10 minutes on radio when engine is off, that standard now on many cars, to save on battery power by it cutting out automatically after a set time, so you do have to start it up again to get another 10 minutes, its no problem to do that :)

My wifes Smart Fortwo just cuts the radio off entirely, if engine off, no playing it at all. Not good if sitting in the car for a while in a carpark, have to get the chess set out :(

I have a 2016 Ecosport, but maybe the newer facelift models are programmable to increase allocated 10 minutes? But I bet not. Have you checked your entertainment section of car manual or talked with your salesman/deaership to confirm?

PS ..See my old Ford thread....

Sort of guessed it’d probably be standard now, but you never know there may be an adjustable setting somewhere. I did search the manual, but found nothing. Not the end of the world if I have to restart it I guess.

Radio

I hope I haven't got it wrong!!!!!!!!!! We have a Titanium auto. Sometimes when waiting for my Wife I feel certain the radio stays on for more than 10 mins. I think what I have done is after the 10mins shut down, I have pressed the start button BUT without my foot on the brake, this switches the electrics on. Switch on the radio and then switch off the electrics Just press the green button again WITHOUT foot on brake.
I am an old duffer so I might be tilting at windmills .

That’s pretty much what I’m doing FreddieFord. Don’t touch any peddles and hit start and then again to turn off the blowers etc. It is at least a work around.
I think it lasts somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes before I have to do it again. Would be good to be able to set that to 30 mins though. I tend to sit in the car for my lunch break and listen to the radio 📻 😉

Hi, I' new to this and have struggled with keeping the radio on. My titanium S, has the Sony system and noticed if you press the start button on the top of the stereo it works fine for an hour. It's only a small button but it makes sitting in the car a lot easier.
