I recently downsized from a Kuga to the Ecosport. The main issue has been the roof bars. I need to carry a canoe or sea kayak and ideally would have the flat roof bars with a 75kg load limit. The curved roof bars Ford supply (40kg max) are not ideal for sliding a canoe onto. They also only fit in set positions - ideally the front roof bar should be able to be fitted much further forward. Wider spaced roof bars will give the load greater stability. I place foam blocks on the roof to give added support to the canoe and it carries well. However why oh why don't Ford fit the standard open roof rails (as for the Kuga) that will take a standard roof bar. So much better and more versatile.
