I thought there was some bird muck on the wiper arm, but on closer inspection it's the paint peeling off!

Car isn't even two years old yet, this worthy of warranty do you think?

Very common on cars as they use crap and cheap paint on wiper arms, and as they get older they end up with white verdegrese corrosion on them.

I use smooth SATIN BLACK spray paint on them when it comes time to respray. Best black there is for this.

I had the same problem with both wiper arms on my old 2015 Ecosport. I showed my local dealer and they replaced free of charge.

I have it booked in for next week for them to look at.

I also noticed some white marks appearing on all the alloys, so they can look at them as well while it's in warranty!

This has been an ongoing problem at Fords for three decades, thinking back to my Ford Capri, Cortina and Escort XR3i ...LOL

You would think with customer feedback, that they would use more robust paint on the wiper arms. Anyway good job that you are still in warranty and they should replace them like Gavlar77, free for charge. (You hope) :D

Your lucky they sorted the wheels.

I had a new Suzuki Jeep bought new years ago, and the wheels corroded white like that in one year, and Suzuki said wheels were not covered under warranty (who reads the small print), so I had to get each wheel powder coated at my expense. Never bought a Suzuki again :(

Some of these 'warranty' covers can be so sketchy!

In my experience anything that isn't classed as a 'consumable' should be covered. If I had damaged the alloys then they could have easily said your own fault, but thankfully they were in perfect condition apart from this weird white 'corroding'.

It's all down to poor manufacturing to reduce costs etc.

One weird one is that I also mentioned a internal crack appearing on one of our rear lights. The crack is clearly on the inside of the plastic, but they said not a manufacture defect. As it's not really noticeable unless you go right up to it, I'm not bothered. Just strange how it's clear that we haven't knocked it and its on the inside of the light housing, yet they didn't want to replace a £60ish cover, yet happy to replace all four alloys.

Interesting comment by colinJYD about customer feedback as yesterday, through the post came a customer survey. It might be this is normal but as I have only had the Ecosport for a little over two months I thought a bit quick. Perhaps they thought get it in quick before the faults start appearing. Surprisingly the survey hails from Germany.

Seriously, I have found the Ecosport quite a reasonable vehicle. When you shut the door it has a nice solid feel, the finish is pretty good and all in all apart from the fuel consumption which does appear to be improving as the mileage goes up, a good honest vehicle.
My last car being a Honda, I thought the Ford would fail in finish etc but in fairness I would say the Ford compares well with the Honda. Of course not everything is perfect but no car ever will be. In the 70's and 80's my force was buying all sorts and the Sierra was a well built car, solid and reliable, the Montego's of BL and the Vauxhalls not so in fact the BL cars were tinny and unreliable. This is the first Ford I have driven since the Sierra and Ford have continued the solid feel of their cars.

Only fault I have had with a rear light cluster, was our Mitsubishi Colt and it was condensating on the inside after just three months from new, so was replaced under warranty with no hassle. Found to be a thin external crack in the make up of the plastic casing.

So for lights that are condensating, they should replace. Your problem with internal crack rather then external, unfortunatly not so straight forward. You could look for one secondhand on ebay at a later date to get it cheaper.

Never got one of those at all :D

Only downside I would have said is that the A pillar triangular piece of glass is next to useless, takes up a lot of area and is a total blind spot as the pillar is thicker to suit around the glass, but that's just down to the design of the car to look good...Just have to get over that flaw, and now am used to it, and bob head around to see by the blind spot >:)

As for reliability, Ford cars have got a lot better since the Sierra, Capri*, Escort XR3i* days, thank goodness :laugh:

* Mine had the first start stop tech by having damp engines that cut out at the lights and junctions till warmed up, and thats why I hate start stop tech in cars nowadays, as it reminds me of my old Fords .

That was the only matter I put regarding criticisms of design. Ironically, the Honda we had was the first one I experienced with this A pillar design and although it was possible to look through the glass I was once caught out. Not serious but taught me to double check to avoid this blind spot. I don't think motorists realise just how much can be hidden behind such as the A pillar configuration. Dealt with an RTA tween bus and car. The bus had pulled out into the path of the car and very minor damage was the result. When I checked, the double opening doors of the bus ( I can't remember seeing modern buses with this type of door) had a frame that when the doors were closed the resultant blind spot caused by the central part of the two doors frame where they came together, completely hid the car.
